Cheri is actively involved in a wide range of genealogy societies and organizations and currently serves on the board of the National Genealogical Society. Her work emphasizes sound research methodology, context-driven analysis, and making genealogy approachable and meaningful for researchers at every level. She writes the blog Carolina Girl Genealogy, where she shares practical research tips, proven methodologies, family stories, and her own research adventures. Cheri is also the author of Genealogy in Reverse: Finding the Living, A Practical Guide for All Genealogists.

DNA Evidence Standards: Writing Clear and Convincing Genetic Genealogy Reports applies the Genealogical Proof Standard to DNA report writing, teaching genealogists how to write genetic evidence write-ups that meet a professional standard of proof. Using real examples from the presenter's Harrison Johnson unknown parentage case, attendees will see how each GPS element — reasonably exhaustive research, complete and accurate citations, correlation of evidence, resolution of conflicting evidence, and a soundly reasoned conclusion — applies specifically to DNA findings. The session covers the Question-Evidence-Analysis-Conclusion framework, a confidence language hierarchy that matches word choice to evidence strength, and methods for correlating DNA with documentary evidence. Participants will see before-and-after transformations of actual DNA evidence write-ups and receive practical templates for immediate application to their own genetic genealogy reports.

Jill Nock, AG®, is a professional genealogist accredited through ICAPGen℠ in the U.S. Upper South. Inspired by the 1977 television miniseries Roots, she has been untangling family mysteries for nearly five decades. Through her business, Mountain State Genealogy, she specializes in DNA analysis, indirect evidence methodology, and transforming complex research into clearly written reports.

Second Tuesday is a lunch & learn program designed to provide professional genealogists with the latest insights and advanced knowledge in the field.
