Writers SIG: "Beyond Copyright: The Law and Ethics for Writers"
8:00 PM - 9:30 PM Eastern
Join the APG Writers Special Interest Group (SIG) on 20 November 2024 when Judy Russell, CG, CGL, will speak on “Beyond Copyright: The Law and Ethics for Writers.”
Judy will explain that genealogical writing isn't just getting the facts right. It's also presenting the information legally and ethically. That involves more than just not violating the copyrights of others. It also involves considerations of plagiarism, rights to privacy, and even ethical use of new artificial intelligence rules. Her review will explore some of the issues beyond copyright in the law and the ethics of genealogical writing.
The Legal Genealogist Judy G. Russell is a genealogist with a law degree who writes and lectures on topics ranging from using court records in family history to understanding DNA testing. An internationally-known lecturer and award-winning writer, she holds credentials as a Certified Genealogist and Certified Genealogical Lecturer from the Board for Certification of Genealogists. Her blog is at https://www.legalgenealogist.com.
