SUMMARY:Second Tuesday: Free Software for Making Genealogy Videos
LOCATION:
DESCRIPTION:Second Tuesday: Free Software for Making Genealogy Videos\n\n08/11/26 12:00 PM EST\n - 08/11/26 01:00 PM EST\Description:\nAs genealogists, we’re always looking for new ways to get our loved ones more engaged with our research. We create online trees, blog our discoveries, and make photo booklets, but have you ever considered turning your research into a family history video? In this talk, Dai will discuss the free software used to create family history videos for the GenealCymru YouTube Channel. Dai talks about the entire video-making process—from creating your visuals, to narrating your audio, and putting it all together into a video format—to give you a basic foundation for you to create your own!\n\nDai Davies (they/them) is a professional genealogist, speaker, and writer with a passion for connecting people with their Welsh ancestors. The foundation of Dai’s approach is their background in anthropology—MA and BA (Hons)—which they use to explore themes of social identity, culture, and history. Dai’s personal family history research is focussed on rural south Wales, the farming class, literary culture, religious nonconformity, and migration. This Welsh research, which is notoriously challenging, is the starting point for Dai’s exploration of universal questions around how to break brick walls, develop new research methods, gain an in-depth knowledge of your ancestors, and thoughtfully tell the fullness of their stories. You can find much of Dai’s work for free on their blog (www.GenealCymru.com) or join the more than 1.3 million people who have watched the GenealCymru YouTube channel.\n\nSecond Tuesday is a lunch & learn program designed to provide professional genealogists with the latest insights and advanced knowledge in the field. Each month, a different expert will lead a session on a unique topic, offering valuable perspectives and practical guidance. Please register to attend.\n
